My soul mate, who was also my best friend - he and i had a rare bond, and closeness, and could share "anything". He died next to me from a heart attack, at first i didnt know what was happening, then rang 000. Im doing okay as it was 8 years ago, but it never leaves you, it just gets easier to deal with.. now my parents who are my rock are very frail.

I love your meditations or I should say your talks. They are very well informed about things like what happens in the brain, for any number of reasons May i simply askthat you talk about borderline personality disorder? because I hear you saying that you can choose this or choose that and people with bordrlije personality are terrified of abandonment, real or perceived.... and as I speak and for several years now I've been abandoned to awful little boarding homes for lots of money in rent, And the present one is costing me $900 a month and I'm told by the manager that he doesn't need the money when he gets somebody in here fast and they leave almost as fast as they get here because of things that are going on here, verbal abuse and gossip between all of about residents. Plus: same thing from the woman who cooks here. What happens to the mentally ill in mental health awareness month here in the US!! You sound like you might be from the UK, and I don't know , really. Here in America, it's May and May is supposed to be a mental health awareness month I got verbally abused by some overworked nurse in the ER , here in America at most private or public hospitals or in general, all the nurses and psych tecchs, etc... at least in the hospitals where I've been admitted to psych units all over Birmingham Alabama… They want their 12 hour shifts so that they can have three days or four days on and then three or four off and so they get stressed and they take it out on whom? Maybe you guess correctly: the mentally ill?

When I feel bad I say I’m unwanted and other people have it better than me. Life feels like a cruel game someone set up just to see how much I can take. Saying that out loud it’s so victimy that I can’t certainly believe this logically? But in the heat of the moment all these feelings are so very real I can’t deny them.

This isn’t a complete representation of the dorsal vagal branch. Yes, it can, in high activation, switch on and take us into a place of “shut down.” It can ALSO be, when supported by ventral vagus activation, helpful for rest, restoration, and regulation. There is such a thing as dorsal rest. In this state, our bodies can allow for integration and healing. It’s not always a bad, “shut down” situation. It’s the body’s natural rest-as-a-means-of-preservation mode. For example, when my body is hormonally affected by my PMDD just before my period, my lower energy is an invitation for me to lean into a slower pace and invite in adequate rest. There’s Dorsal Rest and there’s Dorsal Freeze. Dorsal rest can 100% be experienced from a place of safety in the body. Again, I don’t disagree with any points you made; I’m not arguing these to be inaccurate representations of these branches, just incomplete. And, really, just the dorsal part. I feel you did a solid job with the rest! I just wanted to name that because I feel this is the most commonly missed aspect regarding all things polyvagal theory. Sending love.
